MULTILAYER SCINTILLATOR FOR COMPUTER TOMOGRAPHIC APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multilayer scintillator which contains a first scintillator material layer and a second scintillator material layer. SOLUTION: A first material layer 104 in a scintillator comprises a high-speed scintillation characteristic, and a second material layer 108 comprises a transparency which is higher than that of the first material layer 104. The two material layers 104, 108 are coupled to each other in such a way that a light signal is transmitted to the second material layer 108 from the first material layer 104 and that the light signal is transmitted from the second material layer 108 to a photodiode 90 which is adjacent to the second material layer 108. Respective scintillator materials are selected in such a way that a desired characteristic is obtained in the scintillator.
