The side impact protection device reduces and spreads the impact forces. It has a door reinforcement (6, 7) (of a known type) extending rearwards and downwards from above. Its measurements are such that it protects the seat. The reinforcement may be crowned on both sides. It may form a cavity with the outer skin (3) of the door.
