PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a flocculant which is effective for various kinds of solid- liquid separation by preparing the flocculant from a mixture of a polymer of vinyl monomers comprising a specified amt. of water-soluble monomers having two double bonds and the balance water-soluble monomers having one double bond and a polymer of vinyl monomers containing only water-soluble monomers having one double bond. SOLUTION: This flocculant consists of a mixture of a polymer (A) of vinyl monomers comprising 1×10<-4> to 1×10<-2> mol.% water-soluble monomers having two double bonds and the balance water-soluble monomers having one double bond and a polymer (B) of vinyl monomers containing only water-soluble monomers having one double bond. As for the water-soluble monomers having two double bonds, for example, 2-hydroxypropylidene-1 or N- methylenebisacrylamide or a mixture of these can be used. As for the water-soluble monomers having one double bond, for example, salts of dimethylaminoethyl (meth)acrylate, acrylic acid or a mixture of these can be used. Thereby, the obtd. flocculant has an excellent effect for the dehydration of org. sludge.
