PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bi-directional infrared communication system with which a user can easily recognize a communication situation such as reception abnormality, the type of an input device, an operation mode and a low consumption mode, whose operability can be improved and whose power consumption of the input device can be reduced. SOLUTION: A mouse 10 has a first transmission part 5 transmitting an infrared signal and a first reception part 4 receiving the infrared signal. A control unit has a second transmission part transmitting the infrared signal to the reception part 4 of the mouse 10 and a second reception part receiving the infrared signal from the transmission part 5 of the mouse 10. The control unit displays the communication situation of reception abnormality, the type of an input device, an operation mode and the like on a display by controlling the display through a display control part. The transmission intensity control part 8 of the mouse 10 controls the intensity of the infrared signal transmitted from the transmission part 5 based on a transmission intensity command signal transmitted from the second transmission part 5 through the transmission intensity command part of the control unit. |
