IMPROVED TWIST-OFF CLOSURE

A twist-off closure (10) for use with a bottle having a neck (11), a lip (12 ) and a ledge (14) surrounding the neck (11) and a plurality of ramp sections (16). The closure (10) includes a top wall (20), a skirt (21) and a pluralit y of tabs (26) extending from the bottom edge of the skirt (21). The tabs (26) are T-shaped and include a cross arm (28) extending adjacent to the free end of the stem (27). The cap (10) is made from a steel sheet (32) coated with t in (33) and a varnish or lacquer layer (34) with the edges of the cap (10) bein g formed by pinch trimming so that a corrosion-resistant layer of tin substantially covers the edges.
