PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a user's waiting time by receiving selected data from a data source that is selected according to a specific reference. SOLUTION: When a mini disk 107 carried by a user is inserted into a data updating device 105 when the user purchases data from a data vending machine 101, a data selecting device 102 extracts a part of data content stored in a data information table 109 and shows it on a display device 108. In such a case, the device 102 communicates selection object data to a data source selecting device 103 according to a user's instruction. The device 103 refers to a data information table 109 and a data rate table 110 and selects a data source whose required time that is needed for transfer is the shortest on average. Thereby, a data receiver 104 can receive data which is selected from one among data satellites 111 and 112 and data servers 113 and 114 as a selected data source. |
