PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure the security of media and also to improve the operability in loading/unloading of cartridges as to the cartridge managing method of a library device. SOLUTION: In the cartridge managing method of the library device 20 provided with cell units 22 consisting of plural cells capable of loading/unloading cartridges, this method is constituted so that plural cell groups 22a in which specific information on rights of utilization are respectively set by summarizing consecutive plural cells are constituted in cell units 22, and management tables 15, 16 performing the management by relating respective cell groups with respective information on rights of utilization are provided in this device and the loading/unloading of a cartridge with respect to a specific cell can be accessed every cell group made to correspond to the information on rights of utilization by referring to these management tables 15, 16.
