PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the installing base and assembling method of a weather strip, for facilitating the insertion into a flange, and improving the retaining force of the flange after the insertion. SOLUTION: In the installing base 2 of a weather strip 1 having nearly a U-shaped cross section, having lip parts 7-10 for retaining a flange F formed on an automotive vehicle body opening edge inserted from the opening part side, and embedded with a nearly U-shaped core material along both side walls 4 and 5 on the inner sides of both the side walls 4 and 5 having the nearly U shape, the core material is constituted of a shape memory alloy 20 for deforming the opening parts of both side walls 4 and 5 having nearly the U- shape in a direction for narrowing the opening parts when heat-treated at about 50 deg. or more. |
