A wireless communication method comprising: providing one or more base stations (101, 102) each having at least one of multiple sets of antennas, each set of antennas being serving a distinct geographical area; configuring (S40) the sets of antennas for use as multiple antenna ports to perform at least data transmission (S50); and receiving, at a subscriber station (20) in wireless communication with at least one base station, a data transmission specific to the subscriber station. The data transmission is jointly transmitted using at least two of the antenna ports with transmit diversity applied between the at least two antenna ports, and at least two of the at least two antenna ports are configured from different ones of the multiple sets of antennas. The antenna ports may correspond to distinct cells and the subscriber station (20) preferably provides separate feedback (S10) for each cell. |
