The card storage device has at least one card station (2) and a paternoster conveyor (1) with a number of vertically conveyed horizontal shelves (1A), each supporting a number of adjacent card storage magazines (1B), with a card handling device (3) receiving a card from the card station and inserting it in one of the card storage magazines. An INDEPENDENT CLAIM for a card handling device is also included.
