The seal consists of a molded ring, e.g. of rubber, made with an annular lip (L) which has a sharp edge (A) and fitted between two coaxial components which are able to move axially relative to one another. The ring is made in a two-section mold and has a truncated conical inner surface (S1) which is set at an angle to the axis of the seal. It is fitted into an annular groove (G) of one of the two coaxial components, being deformed by rolling to compensate for the angle.
