<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a fuel composition which suppresses the buildup of deposits in an engine by incorporating a polyamine-containing poly(oxyalkylene)aromatic ester and its soluble salt in a hydrocarbon fuel. SOLUTION: There is provided a polyamine-containing poly(oxyalkylene) aromatic ester having a molecular weight of 600-10,000 and represented by formula I and is used in an amount of 50-2,500 ppm based on the weight of a hydrocarbon fuel. It is also used in the form of a concentrate having a concentration of 10-70 wt.% and prepared by using an inert oleophilic organic solvent having a boiling point of 60-205 deg.C. The aromatic ester is produced by esterifying an aromatic carboxylic acid represented by formula II with a poly(oxy)alkylene alcohol at 70-160 deg.C in the presence of an acidic catalyst and is converted into a soluble salt by protonating its amine moiety with an organic acid. In the formulae, R1 is a 2-40C polyamine moiety having 2-12 aminic nitrogen atoms; R2 and R3 are each H or a 1-6C lower alkyl; R4 and R7 are each H, a 1-100C alkyl, phenyl, or the like; y is 5-100; and W is a halogen or nitro.</p> |
