PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject side effect-reducing agent for reducing side effects such as medicine-induced gastrointestinal dysfunction, etc., of nonsteroidal antiphlogistic sedative agent such as indomethacin or aspirin, containing sulfated polysaccharide as an active ingredient. SOLUTION: This side effect-reducing agent comprises sulfated polysaccharide (preferably fucoidan) as an active ingredient. The fucoidan is preferably obtained by subjecting alga to extraction with hot water in an acidic area, neutralizing the extract and removing residue after extraction. Fucoidan has good effect on nonsteroidal antiphlogistic sedative agent by administration of 0.08-8.0 mg/kg/ time. An antiphlogistic sedative agent scarcely having side effects is obtained by preparing the side effect-reducing agent and a nonsteroidal antiphlogistic sedative component. The form can be prepared as a liquid preparation such as syrup or emulsion or a solid preparation such as tablet. A vehicle, a binder, lubricant, etc., can be used for preparation of the solid preparation and a solvent, a solubilizer, etc., can be used for preparation of the liquid preparation. |
