PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the effects due to external light, protecting a front glass board of a plasma display panel(PDP) body. SOLUTION: A spacer 13 having a refraction index equal to that of a protective plate 12 is formed between a front glass board 1 and the protective plate 12 of a PDP body 11. In this case, the protective plate 12 is a transparent plate which is strong impacts, thereby protecting the front glass board 1 from impacts. Because the refraction index of the protective plate 12 is almost equal to that of the spacer 13, external light L entering into the protective plate 12 is hardly reflected at their boundary and advances to the spacer 13, and because the refraction index of the spacer 13 is nearly equal to that of the front glass board 1, it is hardly reflected even at their boundary and advances into the glass board 1. Although the reflection of the external light occurs also at the front surface of the protective plate 12, the reflected amount of the external light is significantly reduced, because the reflection at the two boundaries can be suppressed greatly. |
