The clip structure has a clip blade (4) divided into separate segments (7) along its length. One segment (7) can bend outwards at an angle to the blade length through the draw forces exerted by the fabric (12) being gripped. The segments (7) are formed by vertical separation cuts (6) in the clip blade (4). The height of a segment (7) is at least 5% of the blade length, typically of 120 mm. At the transit between a separate segment (7) into the closed material zone (8) of the clip blade (4), a free cut section (9) at the separation cut (6) gives a segment taper along the blade length line. The segment (7) is formed from a steel plate section, anchored at the top in a casting, or the blade is wholly of steel sheet, with the gripping edges (5) at the segment (7) sections forming an integral part of the clip blade (4).
