The dies in the press arrangement should have a predetermined accurate length, as the length of the press stroke is always the same. To compensate for wear or to allow for variations in material thickness etc., it is necessary to be able to adjust the position of the dies (6). For this purpose, a non locking wedge drive (10) is mounted over the die. The wedge drive is provided with an hydraulic actuator (15, 16). The driving wedge of the key drive is connected to the piston rod of the actuator. A pressure indicator is provided which indicates the pressure of the hydraulic medium in the actuator. The stroke of the actuator can be adjusted by a nut on an extension of the piston rod and a stop.
