<p>The dispensing apparatus which as shown is a metered dose dispenser, comprises a housing 10 adapted to receive a dispensing container 23, a depressible actuator 15 for moving a dispensing container relative to the housing to release a dose of product and locking means 40 movable from a first position, in which the actuator is free to move, to a second locked position, in which the actuator is prevented from moving. As shown, the apparatus comprises an expandible chamber (36), which is inflated by bellows 30 when the actuator 15 is displaced, the chamber 36 expanding the locking means 40, which is in the form of a split-ring, to prevent downward movement of the actuator. Air is allowed to leak gradually from the chamber 40 so that after a predetermined delay, the actuator 15 is freed for further operation. The arrangement prevents overdosage e.g. of medical products.</p> |
