PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for producing an electrophotographic photoreceptor which facilitates production, i.e., is capable of easily producing a conductive substrate having a uniform surface characteristic within the same lot. SOLUTION: This process for production consists in producing the photoreceptor regularly changed in the film thickness of a coating layer by subjecting the substrate surface to regular cutting by using a cutting tool so as to form tapered reflection surfaces 3 of 0.3 to 30μm in the depth corresponding to cutting lines and linear projections 2 to 10 to 500μm in width in parallel in the circumferential direction of the surface of the substrate 1, thereby regularly forming the cross-sections along the transverse direction of the respective tapered reflection surfaces 3.
