Device for improving signals in an electrocardiogram (ECG) subject to frequent artefacts

A mean value unit (2) uses an ECG signal to evaluate a curve for a QRS complex-T wave for a pre-determined number of beats to establish a mean value beat. A subtraction unit (3) subtracts the mean value beat from the ECG signal of a live beat, in order to get a residual signal. A finite impulse response (FIR) unit (4) subjects the residual signal to high-low check filtering and slows it down so as to deliver a filtered signal to which the mean value beat is added in an adding unit (5).
