PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carbon fiber for nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery capable of providing a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery which is used for the negative electrode of a lithium-ion secondary battery and thereby indicating a high capacity even upon charging/discharging at a high current value and having a long cycle life, and its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: This method is a manufacturing method performing shock processing with a peripheral velocity of a rotor at 70 to 120 m/s by a hybridizer, on a graphitizing vapor phase epitaxy carbon fiber in which the spacing distance d002 of a (002) face in a graphite layer lies within 0.3354 to 0.3360 nm and the crystallites in c-axial direction are 100 nm or more and, thereby, obtains a carbon fiber for nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery by this manufacturing method. |
