PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low-priced torque detecting mechanism for a bicycle equipped with a motor driven auxiliary power unit. SOLUTION: Determination is made by a saturation determining means 203 as to whether a detected torque value detected by a torque detecting mechanism (torque sensor 100, or the like) for detecting depressing torque according to the elongation/contraction amount of a spring elongated/contracted based on a pedal depressing force during running is equal to a saturation value or higher, and if the value is lower than the saturation value, based on the detected torque value, or if the value is equal to the saturation value or higher, based on an estimated maximum torque value calculated by an estimated maximum torque value calculating means 206, an estimated current torque value is calculated by an estimated current torque value calculating means 207. Then, based on the calculated estimated current torque value, a motor output value is calculated by a motor output deciding means 208, a motor 40 is controlled to reach this motor output value, and the spring constant of a spring is reduced. Thus, a low-priced torque detecting mechanism is provided for a bicycle equipped with a motor driven auxiliary power unit. |
