<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively utilize the combustion energy of a carbonaceous material and to prevent the deformation of scrap and the bridging in a melting furnace due to partial melting by adjusting the distribution of the charges of the iron source and carbonaceous material in the radial direction of the furnace and blowing in pulverized coal from a blast tuyere. SOLUTION: SCrap iron 1b is charged into the central part of a vertical melting furnace and a carbonaceous material 1a into the peripheral part of the furnace. Consequently, since the air-flow resistance in the carbonaceous material part is larger than that in the scrap iron part, the flow rate of the gas passing through the carbonaceous material part is remarkably decreased. Meanwhile, when the pulverized coal 3 which is inexpensive as compared with coke is blown in from a blast tuyere 2 set at the lower part of the furnace, the charge of the carbonaceous material 1a from the upper part of the furnace is correspondingly decreased. As a result, the amt. of the carbonaceous material 1a to react with the waste gas contg. CO2 is reduced, and the energy of the caronaceous material 1a is efficiently utilized in heating and melting the scrap iron.</p> |
