The device is held in a spindle unit (5) which is moved by a guide arrangement (6). The device has a machining table (7) which accommodates a workpiece which is to be machined. A tool- or unit-magazine may be provided for mounting the machining tools and unit. The device comprises an edge-banding machine (11) which consists of a stationary supply unit (12) and at least one edge-banding unit (13) which can be disconnected from it and which can be replaced into the spindle unit. The edge bending unit is separate from the unit magazine, and is positioned to one side near the end of the spindle unit path of movement.
