The wall thickness measuring device uses at least one measuring mark (2) which is anchored in the wall of the component (1) and which can be detected optically, e.g. via a camera, after specific corrosion or wear of the wall surface, the measuring mark itself remaining free from corrosion or wear during use of the component.
