Method of manufacturing rotors and apparatus for checking the coils of such rotors used in the method, this being done by mounting a collector on a shaft equipped with an armature, spot welding the tails of wires which extend from the said armature to the said collector, balancing the said rotor, and checking whether the armature coil of the said rotor is damaged. The corresponding apparatus includes rotor-transporting means for transporting the said rotor wound with the said coil and mounted with a collector to a predetermined waiting position, means for raising/lowering rotors so as to bring the said rotor up to a predetermined test position, and to return the fully tested rotor to the said rotor-transporting means, and coil-testing means for applying a predetermined voltage to the said coil of the said rotor in order to determine whether or not the said coil is damaged, and for determining whether or not the said rotor is serviceable. <IMAGE>
