Kneading or blending machine for dough and food with special lowering system for closure attached to its upper side which faces the tub interior. Preferred features: The closure (11) pivots about a horizontal axis (24) intersecting the axis of tub rotation (1). Using the lowering system, the closure is simultaneously lowered and pivoted. A rotationally-symmetrical guidance body (12) on the closure, is provided for the food being processed. Its contours suit its combined descending and swinging path. A drive shaft of limited axial travel (13), connects lowering system and closure. Pivoting takes place on a bearing (14) which also transmits longitudinal shaft motion. The drive shaft is connected to a motor (26) which is independent of tub motion. Levers in the lowering system, cause the closure motions. This system comprises two rigidly-linked levers (16, 17), pivoting near their connection (18) and mounted on the machine. The drive shaft pivots at the free end (15) of one lever (16). There is a scraper (28) beneath the tub, near the top of the lowered closure.
