The invention refers to a rotor for permanent magnet synchronous motors, in modular design with solid steel pole pieces. According to the invention, the rotor consists of a shaft [1] made out of nonmagnetic steel with improved mechanical properties, which has a number of keyways [a] equal to the number of pole pieces of one stage in which some divider keys [2] made out of nonmagnetic material are pressed; each stage is made up of some pole pieces [5] made out of magnetic steel, which have a tapered joint face [c]. In the keyways between the pole pieces, there are mounted either some permanent magnets [6], or some magnetic steel strips [7], depending on the number of motor poles. The pole pieces of each stage are centred and pressed onto the shaft by means of two half-rings [4] at the ends, and some in-between rings [8] made out of nonmagnetic material, which have improved mechanical properties and are provided with tapered surfaces [b] that have the same dimension as those on the pole pieces. The entire system is fastened at both ends by way of two flanges [3 and 9], made out of nonmagnetic material, which are joined together by some bolts [10] and some nuts [11]. The necessary power press is secured against opening, by means of two threaded pins [13].
