Collector fuel injection system for motor vehicle diesel engine

The system has a fuel collection chamber (3) for fuel pumped along a fuel line, a fuel injection arrangement (1) which sprays fuel from the collection chamber into an engine cylinder, an on-off switch detection circuit and a regulator. An overflow mechanism allows fuel to overflow into a section of the fuel line at a lower pressure then the collection chamber to relieve the pressure in the chamber. The detection circuit detects switching of the ignition switch from on to off and generates a corresponding signal. The regulator responds to the signal by activating the overflow mechanism to reduce the collection chamber pressure.
