PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader by which a double-sided original is efficiently read simultaneously without degrading performance of image reading. SOLUTION: In the case of a double-side read mode, read means 101, 102 read image information on a corresponding face of an original at a speed slower than a read speed in the one-side read mode. A processing means 103 sets the quantity of image read information VDA, VDB per unit time to be equal to or less than that of the image read information per unit time in the one-side read mode and outputs the image information after prescribed signal processing. Thus, even when the processing means 103 has equal performance in the double- side read mode and the one-side read mode, both sides of the original are read efficiently at the same time without degrading the performance of image reading. |
