The compact air-conditioning unit is fitted into a module for mounting on a vehicle roof e.g. on to the roof of a truck cab. It is powered by a compressor for a closed system. The compressor is driven by a three-phase asynchronous motor linked to the DC supply of the vehicle by a static inverter and a frequency converter. The condenser, compressor and control circuit are mounted in the lower part of the module on a support board while the upper part of the module is subjected to the air flow produced by the vehicle movement and by blowers. Air flow connections are provided to and from the inside of the vehicle.
