POWER FLOW CONTROL AND POWER RECOVERY WITH ROTARY TRANSFORMERS

An interconnection system for transferring power between a first grid operating at a first electrical frequency and a second grid operating at a second electrical frequency includes a rotary transformer and a power recovery system. The power recovery system recovers and applies to the transferee grid a power differential attributable to mechanical power channeled to a rotatable shaft of the rotary transformer.
