The safety switching strip has an elastic hollow profile enclosing a chamber (17) and has a first contact path (19) made from elastic material which makes contact with a second path (20) when outside pressure is applied. In the non-deformed state, the chamber has a bent cross-section. When pressure is applied, the paths make contact at least in two separate positions. The positions are where there are inwardly projecting ridges from the bent lower path. There is an end resistance used as a measuring resistance, joining the two paths, which consists of a moulded end-cap made from thermoplastic with embedded conducting particles.
