PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the easy program searching of data recorded on a tape. SOLUTION: The header readable when the tape is running in the reverse direction, is kept being recorded on the tape. For the application to a tape drive provided with plural parallel tracks on the tape (whichever type to write in/read out by driving the tape in one direction, or to record on the tracks with the turn-back system by reciprocating driving the tape), the constitution such as the header of the reverse direction is provided on a part of these tracks is alternatively allowable.
