Method of regulation of distance between two motor vehicles

The distance regulation method determines the set distance (Dc) between two vehicles and for a particular road scenario stabilises the speed of a vehicle to be equal to the vehicle ahead. The road scenario is determined from relative separation and speed between the two vehicles to take account of passing vehicles, emergencies and passing manoeuvres. The scenario is used to select the control law.
