Strip rolling process subjects strip leading and trailing ends to increased edge rolling reduction

In strip rolling in a mill train with an edging stand (7) followed by a rolling stand (9), the leading and trailing ends of the strip are subjected to increased edge rolling reduction. An Independent claim is also included for a strip rolling mill train with a strip detector located ahead of the edging stand (7) by a distance similar to the distance between the edging and rolling stands (7, 9), the detector being connected to a material tracking system.
