CATALYST SUPPORT, CATALYST, REACTOR FOR HYDROGENATION REACTION, AND CATALYTIC REACTION METHOD

A catalyst support made of a refractory inorganic oxide and having a shape of symmetry of rotation having a hollow portion such as a doughnut shape. An outer peripheral surface and an inner peripheral surface dividing the hollow portion are connected by a curve surface and height (h) of the support in the direction of the axis of symmetry of rotation is smaller than the outer diameter (do) of the support. Closure among the catalyst particles by granular materials can be prevented by using the catalyst having such a support shape for a fixing layer, and even when the granular materials are deposited on the catalyst, the rise of the pressure difference due to the catalyst is small, so that service life of the catalyst can be extended. Non-uniform flow of a reaction fluid can be prevented, too. A reactor for a hydrogenation reaction having the catalyst packed to a fixed floor is also provided.
