A reinforced nylon material having improved strength and appearance is obtained by addition of a minor amount of a soluble lithium salt to a reinforced nylon composition during compounding. The reinforced nylon material includes a nylon resin, a reinforcing agent, and a soluble lithium salt. The lithium salt is used in an amount sufficient to provide from about 0.016% to less than about 0.16% lithium, based on the weight of the compounded material.
