The system is designed so that a rotary arm (20) can move between a two positions. In the first position, an X-ray generator and an X-ray detector carried on the arm lie opposite each other, and the head of the patient (P) is positioned between them in a patient positioning station. In the second position (150), the system operator can see the head of the patient from the side. A second X-ray detecter allows the production of a cephalogram. A screen prevents the patient seeing touching selected components of the system.
