HIGH OPACITY KAOLIN PIGMENT COMPOSITIONS OF IMPROVED RHEOLOGY

摘要

High opacity aqueous koalin pigment compositions of improved rheology which maintain acceptable high shear strength are disclosed. The pigment compositions are useful for providing fillers or coatings for paper and paint and reduce the need for costly opacifying pigments such as titanium dioxide. By virtue of the pigment composition's improved rheology and ability to form higher solids-containing slurries compared with other known hydrous kaolin clays treated with cationic polymers, economic benefits regarding transportation, pumpability, and dewatering are achievable.
