FIELD: petrochemical processes. SUBSTANCE: invention, in particular, relates to processing of hydrocarbon pyrolysis intermediate products by their rectification and to their storage. Objective of invention is: reduction of polymer formation by rectification of intermediate products on ethylene and propylene- production plants; overcoming disadvantages of phenol inhibitors in what is concerned their compatibility with hydrocarbon streams; improvement of transportation capability of such inhibitors using polymer-formation inhibitor as example; enlargement of assortment of polymer-formation inhibitors. Problem is solved by using following inhibitory composition containing broad (220-285 C) diatomic phenol fraction isolated from summary extractive semicoking phenols and n- or iso-butyl alcohol at their 1:(1-4) volume ratio. Active principle of above-indicated fraction is the sum of monoatomic phenols (phenol, cresols, xylenols) constituting no more than 7 wt %. Sum of pyrocatechol and its alkyl derivatives constitutes 30-40 wt % and sum of resorcinol and its alkyl derivatives 25-35 wt %. The rest comprises hydroquinone derivatives, naphthols, high-molecular alkyl- and polyalkylphenols, their presence being limited by indicated dry point (285 wt %). Composition is applied in quantities from 0.001 to 0.1 wt % based on diatomic phenol fraction. EFFECT: reduced polymer formation. 2 tbl
