PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To supress generation of a flicker or fake contour, by replacing a display turn of a split period for very discharge cell or for every discharge cell block of a combination of neighboring discharge cells each other. SOLUTION: At a time of action of driving a plasma display panel(PDP), one frame (field) period spent for an image display is divided into subframes SF0-SF5 in which each of the discharge cells is made to execute electric discharge light emitting in a different lighting period to each other, and for example intermediate displays with 64 gradation are made. In this case, one frame period is divided into 6 split periods comprising a first-sixth split periods, and in each of the split period a reset action R, an address action AD, a first maintaining discharge action I, a selective erasure action S and a second maintaining discharge action I2 are respectively executed. In this way, the turn of lighting period allotted to each of the splits is proceeded by changing over a plurality of light emitting modes different with each other for every discharge cell or for every discharge block of a combination of plural discharge cells neighboring each other. |
