PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing starch pellets for obtaining the same having a high blending ratio of relatively inexpensive starch, excellent in buffering property, and also suitable for an injection molding. SOLUTION: This method for producing starch pellets is provided by using a starch as a main component, supplying a composition composed of 20-80 wt.% water, 0-3 wt.% nucleating agent and 0-15 wt.% moisture keeping agent based on the above starch, to a screw type extruder, heating and kneading for converting the starch to anα-form, extruding for granulation in 60-130 deg.C range, then adjusting humidity so as to become 10-30 wt.% water content in 20-100 deg.C range to obtain the starch pellets.
