Hair colour based on an oxidation dye precursor system reacting with peroxide contains N-(3-acyl-2-hydroxy-propyl)-N-hydroxyalkyl-carboxamide(s). The carboxamides are of formula (I): R2O-CH2-CHOH-CH2-N(COR1)-(CH2)n-OH (I); R1, R2 = 10-22 C alk(en)yl; n = 1-3 . An Independent claim is also included for an aqueous oxidant composition containing peroxide(s) and amide(s) (I), for oxidation dye precursors for producing a hair colour.
