Composite sealing glass, use of a composite sealing glass and high temperature fuel cell

The composite glass solder (8) contains 70-95 wt.% of a glass component (10) and 5-30 wt.% of a metal oxide-containing further component, preferably magnesium oxide (MgO) in the form of grains of up to 10 mu m, preferably less than 5 mu m size and is used to join metallic and/or ceramic structural elements (2, 4). The glass component (10) contains (wt.%): 35-60 silica (SiO2); 8-15 alumina (Al2O3); 15-30 barium oxide (BaO); 10-20 boron oxide (B2O3); and up to 15 MgO. Also claimed is a high temperature fuel cell in which the above glass solder is used.
