PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve deposit removing performance, reliability and heating performance in the next process of a drawn wire. SOLUTION: A fluidized sand layer 14 by air flow is heat-controlled to thread a drawn wire (a), the deposit of lubricant or the like of the drawn wire is heated to soften with the fluidized sand layer and peeled and removed with fluidizing impact, thereafter the drawn wire is heated to hardening 3, 4. In the precleaning method, the diameter ratio d/d1 of the drawn wire diameter (d) and the maximum diameter d1 of fluidized sand in the fluidized sand layer is specified to be 3<=d/d1<=30, and the fluidized sand layer is heat-controlled 15a at about 550±100 deg.C. This device is provided with a porous straightening plate 13 provided within a precleaning bath 11 arranged in the preceding stage of heating and hardening in the path line x-x of the drawn wire, fluidizing means 12, 16, 16a housed on the porous straightening plate and oppositely provided to fluidized sand layer arranged in the path line of the drawn wire and heating means 15, 15a.
