摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain highly active catalyst for hydrogenation reaction capable of controlling deterioration of catalyst by accumulation and carbonization of side reaction and organic matter by a method wherein a noble metal is supported in a metallic state with porous lithium aluminate having a spinel structure wherein an average pore diameter and a pore volume have respectively specific values. SOLUTION: The catalyst useful for hydrogenation reaction of unsaturated hydrocarbon or the like is provided wherein a noble metal is supported in a metallic state with porous lithium aluminate having a spinel structure in which an average pore diameter is 40 to 1000Å, and a pore volume is 0.2 to 1.5 ml/g. The noble metal is exemplified by platinum, palladium, ruthenium, etc. Further, as the porous lithium aluminate, porous lithium aluminate wherein lithium, aluminum, and divalent metal are contained as the metallic constituent, an atomic ratio of Li to Al is 0.2:5.0 to 1.5:5.0, and an atomic ratio of the divalent metal to Al has a value less than 2.0:5.0, is suitably used.
