PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correct energy variation at the time of beam pulse rising, and attain good energy spectral characteristics by forming an accelerating wave amplitude modulation device which can arbitrarily-control first transition to the steady state of the amplitude of the accelerating wave which is generated by an accelerating wave generating device and injected into an accelerating tube. SOLUTION: A stabilizing microwave generated by an accelerating wave oscillating device 1 is amplified by an accelerating wave amplifier 3 and an accelerating wave power amplifier 4 through an accelerating wave amplitude modulation device 2, and is supplied to an accelerating tube 5. The accelerating wave amplitude modulation device 2 is constituted of an attenuator unit, and attenuation works when a pin diode switch is not energized, while when driven, the attenuation disappears. For generating a attenuation pattern in time series, trigger is applied to the pin diode switch sequentially. When the accelerating wave amplitude modulation is conducted, for example, accelerating energy variation becomes almost within the range of±3%. It is thus possible to restrain variation in the initial energy of beam pulse.
