The translational adjustment device, for longitudinal adjustment of the seat cushion, has at least one guide slideway (10a,10b) in a first part and a support element (4,5) in the slideway, fixed to a sliding part. There is a slide (2) between the edge of the guide slideway and the support element. The through grip aperture (25) of the slide is conical, with increasing clearance towards the second part (7). The support element can be moved axially in the slide. The support element should preferably have a securing head (50) at the free end.
