The truck (10) has width-wise spaced apart rear and front (13) wheels, with one on each side. Beneath an operators seat (17), in an operators compartment (18), is an engine (20), connected to a variable angle swash plate pump (21), which provides fluid to a front wheel motor (22) drive. The rear wheels are mounted by conventional suspension mechanisms and are steerable using a steering ram. The truck has a single telescopic boom, extending forwardly of the truck and mounted on the structure for up and down swinging movement by a pivoting mechanism (26). The mechanism is disposed in a rear end (27) of the boom and the rear end (28) of the truck. A forward boom part (29a) has a width wise extension (31), which pivotally connects (33) to a load implement carrying mechanism (32), which in turn is connected to limbs (34) for pivotal movement under the control of a crowd ram mechanism.
