A gasoline composition contains from 0.2 to 1 cc. per U.S gallon (0.005 to 0.025% by volume) of a trialkyl phosphine in which the alkyl groups are selected from C1 to C3 alkyl groups and primary and secondary C4 and C5 alkyl groups. The composition also contains tetraethyl lead. In examples gasolines contain tri-n-butyl phosphine. Other compounds mentioned are triethyl, tripropyl, diethyl methyl, diethyl propyl, diethyl isopropyl, diethyl butyl, and diethyl amyl phosphines. |
